A Homeless Awareness Day in Birkenhead Town Centre on Thursday, February 15, will highlight the work that agencies do to support people who are vulnerable and living on the streets.
The event, from 10am-4pm, is being organised by Wirral Ways Recovery Outreach Worker Kirstie McHugh, and lots of different agencies will be taking part. Kirstie says it is a chance for the public to get advice and guidance on what to do if they are approached or come across a vulnerable person on the streets.
Taking part will be Wirral Ways to Recovery, Forum Housing, Wirral Council, Birkenhead YMCA, Wirral Churches Ark Project , Merseyside Police, town centre hosts and organisations for homeless people.
On the day staff from Forum Housing, Merseyside Police and Wirral Street Pastors will raise awaeness of the issues associated with homelessness in Wirral and offer information on the great work that is being done to help the less fortunate within our community and also advice on how the public can help these organisations and the homeless. Look out for their vehicles which will be stationed on Grange road and St Johns Street.
For more information on the event and to find out what you can do to help please call in and meet organisers at Wirral Ways to Recovery, 23 Conway St, Birkenhead CH41 6PT.
