Business Community Rallies Round to Help New Business 'One Stop 4 Paws'

A number of community minded businesses, including a sandwich shop, a Housing Association and Birkenhead BID rallied round this week to help a brand-new family run venture in Birkenhead get ready for their grand opening.

Christina and Mark Harris were in the process of decorating their “One Stop 4 Paws” shop on Argyle St. Birkenhead to ensure they were open for business on Friday 11th August. However, with such a big project they still had a number of rooms to paint, pens to build and even a counter to build the Wednesday before.

As part of the ongoing support for BID business’, Town Host Mark Clemson, who popped in to see how things were progressing sparked an idea. Mark spoke with Debbie O’Connor from Forum Housing, who immediately sprang into action and set about organising a team of helpers to assist their new neighbours. The next day Debbie, four members of staff and a team of volunteers arrived, ready to paint, clean and generally save the day. Mandy from Mandy’s place also supplied the hungry volunteers with refreshments and sandwiches.

Christina Harris said “knowing that there are people out there who are willing to help a family set up a business is amazing. We started in November 2016 with an idea and to be where we are now is phenomenal. We are really happy to be the newest member of this community and are really looking forward to opening and will definitely be getting involved and giving back.

Debbie O’Connor, Team Leader - Housing Solutions Team said “Our new Kickstart programme, is about engaging with young people who what to get involved in the community and helping them into education or employment. With that in mind, we could see that this was a fantastic opportunity to help Christina and Mark, here is to more up and coming events and great partnerships!!”

One Stop 4 Paws is a brand-new business offering a one stop shop for dog owners. They offer grooming, microchipping, day and holiday-care, canine first aid training, dog walking, health supplements, puppy training and more.
