The Lauries Rucksack Challenge 2017 is gathering pace
The Lauries Rucksack Challenge 2017 is gathering pace as more donations are arriving from businesses and the public with pledges of more to come before Christmas.
The initiative, which supports the services of YMCA Wirral and the Charles Thompson Mission, will help the homeless in Wirral through the cold, winter months ahead.
Both Wirral Chamber of Commerce and the Birkenhead BID are working closely with The Lauries in promoting and gathering much needed items such as tinned food, warm clothing, and toiletries which will presented to YMCA Wirral and the Charles Thompson Mission on 6th December. You can find out more on Facebook @RucksackChallenge.
The latest organisation to donate a large number of items is Community Action: Wirral (CAW), a charitable organisation based in The Lauries in Birkenhead. Community Action: Wirral promotes, supports, engages and involves work happening in and around Wirral communities.
Mel O’Connor, CAW Head of Service was delighted that it help by making a donation, she said, “We are very active in helping organisations and groups to get established, thrive, grow, and be sustainable. As a community organisation we were very happy in adding our support to the Rucksack Challenge 2017, and we are proud that we might be able bring some much needed Christmas goodwill to the lives of Wirral’s homeless.“
Community Action: Wirral is the borough’s only contracted support organisation specifically for the third sector, and recently launched its new contract working in partnership with Wirral Chamber of Commerce.
Its support activities are delivered at The Lauries in a newly developed Sector Hub ‘drop in’ and resource centre. The Hub offers includes support for business and financial planning, finding and applying for funding, tender readiness, together with volunteering and volunteer management.
